Clearway School continues to be run under a co-director model. Currently there are three co-directors who share in the administrative functions of the school. Although their responsibilities vary, all co-directors perform some direct care with students. This direct care is essential for co-directors to be connected to the needs of the program.

Directors:
Margot Flouton, Clearway SchoolMargot Flouton (B.A. New York University; M.Ed. Lesley College)- Margot is the Educational Administrator at Clearway School. This means she has ultimate oversight of the educational program. Margot is the most visible Co-Director because she talks and meets with representatives of all the public school systems who use our services. As the coordinator for admissions, Margot meets with prospective students and their families to talk about the program, tour classrooms, and evaluate applicants. For all of our students and families, Margot is the first important link to new and appropriate services. Margot is a certified special education and regular education teacher (K-8). Prior to working at Clearway School Margot worked for many years as an administrator of programs and consultant to public schools for children with autism. Margot just completed her 18th year at Clearway School.
Peter Rosen, Clearway SchoolPeter Rosen (B.A. Harvard University; M.Ed. Harvard Graduate School of Education)- Peter is the Director of Curriculum and Supervision at Clearway School. He supervises the teaching staff and continuously modifies the curriculum of Clearway School. Peter has been in hundreds of classes throughout the year in various roles including teacher, co-teacher, and observer. In his time at Clearway School he has helped to establish or re-establish a number of programs including community service, theatre, woodshop, and after-school. Peter is a licensed teacher in social studies, mathematics and special education. He has just completed his 9th year at Clearway School.
Mary Ryan, Clearway SchoolMary Ryan (B.A. Boston College)- Mary is the Administrator of Clearway School.  She is in charge of the day to day running of the program. Mary is the direct link to the Department of Education and is responsible for implementing all policy and procedures according to Massachusetts Department of Education and federal regulations. Mary handles all business aspects of the school.  She consults to the Parent Advisory Council and is in direct communication with the Board of Directors. Mary is a certified special education and regular education teacher (K-8). Prior to working at Clearway School Mary taught in public schools working in resource rooms.  She also coordinated a special education program in an alternative public school.  Mary has just completed her 20th year at Clearway School.

The teaching faculty at Clearway School is comprised of experienced certified special education and content area teachers.  Clearway School also employs a variety of adjunctive faculty including:

  • A Speech and Language Pathologist who works on expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language goals with students in academic classes and in separate, small-group settings.
  • A School Counselor who supports students in small groups.  The School Counselor also serves as a resource for families in identifying services available in communities.
  • A Vocational Counselor with over 15 years of experience at Clearway School who leads older students into a supportive, work-study experience.  The Vocational Counselor also supports seniors in their transition planning including college and/or work.
  • An Art Teacher with over 20 years of experience at Clearway School who has taught a variety of art classes including printmaking, basic drawing, collage, painting, and clay.
  • A Drama Teacher who directs Clearway productions performed in January and June.  For many students, their first successful drama experiences come in these productions.
